The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, is organizing a two-day workshop on Conservation Strategies for Mega-Herbivores in Madhya Pradesh. Scheduled for 20–21 November 2025 at the scenic Sanjay Tiger Reserve, the workshop will bring together wildlife experts, field practitioners, researchers, and forest managers to discuss the evolving landscape of mega-herbivore conservation in the state.
Mega-herbivores such as gaur and the Asian elephant play a crucial role in shaping forest ecosystems, maintaining biodiversity, and sustaining ecological balance. With increasing environmental pressures, changing habitats, and growing human–wildlife interactions, the need for informed, science-driven conservation planning has become more important than ever.
